I ran out of time this morning and didn’t get my sketching done. Then, on the way to work, I didn’t feel like starting a new story (I finished the last one on Saturday), so I listened to a talking book instead. I ended up writing on the drive home and really enjoyed the new story I started.
This even I took a few minutes for my sketch challenge. And the problem I had with the press-and-hold right-click? I fixed that thanks to this post from VolnaPC. I also hadn’t taken the time to remap anything on the Wacom with the new computer. I didn’t do much after the sketch, but I did remap one of the buttons to the alt key so I can quickly sample colors.
Despite the late start, I still managed to get my challenges done.
This morning I’m going to work later, which gave me more time to work a bit on the Past Dark cover. There’s still more to be done, but I’m making progress. Not always as fast as I’d like, but that’s okay. I used Painter’s particle brushes to help with the effect I wanted.
I worked more today on the Past Dark cover illustration. There’s a lot left to be done on this one (not showing the text at the moment). Tomorrow morning each of my series will have a countdown deal for the first book in the series. That includes:
Worked on a figure sketch today. I missed a few days, not feeling well, but decided to work on this today. I didn’t get the proportions right, still working on that. I need more figure drawing practice. Used a picture from the Spartan Race as reference.
This morning I did some more work on the Cupid Awakening cover, refining a few details and tried out various adjustments in Photoshop. I’m mostly happy with it at this point. As far as painting goes I need to get on with other projects. There’s still quite a bit of work to be done for the pre-order release of Cupid Awakening.
This morning, after my walk, I sat down and did some focused work on the cover. I continued to refine the details, mostly on the pencil. I did do a little work on the feather as well, enhancing the shadows. I’ll set it aside and come back to look at it again later. I still have a lot of work on the book before it’ll go up for pre-order at the end of the month.
I’m running a bit late today. I woke up early and instead of staying up, I went back to bed. I’m not sure that was the best thing to do. In any case I did sit down to work on the Cupid Awakening cover this morning and began putting in the pencil element I talked about. It’s not yet complete, however all of the major elements of the cover are present now. I’ll continue to refine and work on the cover as well as the other elements of the book so that I can have it up for pre-order on the 31st, as planned.
I worked on the Cupid Awakening cover some more today, adding the feather element to the cover. I still have more work to do on it before it’s done, I want to add a realistic pencil to the cover illustration as well. Realistic, but still painted, not a photograph. I’ll probably also adjust the text elements before it’s finalized. I’ve been using Photoshop to paint this one.
